What is Emotron?

Emotron is a brand of CG Drives & Automation AB, a Swedish engineering company headquartered in Helsingborg. Their equipment — soft starters, variable frequency drives, modular converters, and shaft power monitors — is designed to control and protect electric motors and rotating machinery in demanding industrial environments. The brand is built around three pillars: energy efficiency, operational reliability, and machinery protection. For Emotron, saving energy is not only about reducing the electricity bill; it is about the peace of mind of running reliable systems that do not stop production. Their equipment operates in industries such as mining, water and wastewater, power generation, chemical processes, and materials handling across more than 70 countries.

Soft starters

The Emotron TSA is the flagship soft starter of the line: it covers from 5.5 to 1000 kW (supply voltage 200–690 V, rated current 16–960 A) and reduces inrush current by up to ~30%, allowing the use of smaller fuses and cables and lowering installation cost. Its three-phase torque control continuously calculates the actual shaft torque, delivering constant acceleration that eliminates mechanical stress on pumps, fans, compressors, crushers, and conveyors. The built-in load monitor detects jams, blockages, and dry running without any additional external sensors.

Variable frequency drives (VFDs)

The Emotron variable frequency drive line is divided into two main families by application: the FDU, optimized for flow and pressure control in pumps, fans, and compressors (approximate range 0.75–4,000 kW, 230–690 V); and the VFX, designed for dynamic and high-demand applications such as cranes, crushers, mills, and mixers, with direct torque control and efficient vector braking. Both series are available in IP20/21 and IP54 (splash-proof) enclosures. The line also includes regenerative options (AFE), medium voltage for large-scale plants, and compact units (CDU/CDX/VS10/VS30) for installations with limited space.

Emotron AFG modular converter for energy feedback to the grid, available through E3 Solutions in Central AmericaPage coming soon

Modular converters

Emotron modular converters cover energy conversion and control needs in specialized configurations: the AFG manages energy feedback to the grid (regeneration), the DCU performs voltage conversion between different electrical standards, and the VSI controls generators in distributed generation or backup plants.

Shaft power monitors

The Emotron M20 monitors mechanical power on the motor shaft using the motor itself as the sensor — no external wiring, no in-line sensors, no taps into the process. It detects overload and underload conditions instantly: its Auto Set function establishes four protection points in roughly 3 seconds based on the actual measured load. The most common application is protecting pumps against dry running, but it is also key to catching jams in crushers and blockages in conveyors before they cause costly damage.

Why choose Emotron?

  • Patented torque control

Emotron's technical differentiator versus brands like Danfoss, Schneider, and ABB is continuous control of actual shaft torque on the motor. Instead of starting at a fixed reduced voltage, the TSA calculates and adjusts torque throughout the start, ensuring constant acceleration that eliminates current spikes and mechanical stress. The result: up to ~30% lower inrush current, smaller fuses, lower-gauge cables, and less wear on couplings, belts, and mechanical seals.

  • Energy efficiency without compromise

Emotron FDU and VFX variable frequency drives regulate speed and torque according to actual process demand — not maximum design flow. In pumps and fans, lowering operating speed to what the load actually requires can deliver significant energy savings. TSA soft starters also reduce consumption by eliminating current spikes at start, which translates into lower billed electrical demand and less heat dissipated in the installation. More efficient equipment means less maintenance and longer machinery life.

  • Swedish engineering, global certifications

Emotron equipment carries CE certifications (EMC, Low Voltage, and RoHS Directives), UL/cULus (North American market), DNV (marine applications), and EAC (Eurasian Customs Union). These approvals qualify the equipment to operate in regulated environments: marine, chemical, oil and gas, mining, and water and wastewater systems. For the Guatemalan buyer, CE and UL certifications are the minimum floor of requirements in infrastructure projects and industrial plants.

  • Local support in Guatemala

As the official Emotron distributor in Central America, E3 Solutions closes the loop that a foreign supplier cannot: local response times, access to the complete Emotron catalog, certified technicians for on-site commissioning and maintenance, and training for plant personnel.
